Adyen Account Setup

Learn how to set up your Adyen account for use with Valpay. Request a Valpay-provisioned test account, understand why direct Adyen accounts won’t work, and get access to a house account for safe testing and development.

Updated over a week ago

Before you can start integrating payments, you need access to an Adyen account that is properly configured within the Valpay ecosystem.

⚠️ Important: Do Not Create an Adyen Account Directly

To ensure full compatibility with Valpay, you must not create an Adyen account directly through Adyen.

Instead contact the Valpay team to request a test account

If you create an account independently:

  • It will not be linked to Valpay

  • You will not have access to required configurations

  • Certain features and flows used within Valpay will not work correctly

What Valpay Provides

When you request access, Valpay will provision an Adyen test account that is:

  • Pre-configured for use within Valpay

  • Linked to the appropriate Valpay setup

  • Ready for both online and in-person payment testing

House Account for Testing

As part of your setup, you will receive access to a house account.

This account allows you to:

  • Run test transactions safely

  • Validate your integration end-to-end

  • Simulate different payment scenarios

The house account is intended for development and testing purposes only and is already configured to work with Valpay.

What You’ll Receive

Once your account is created, you will typically be provided with:

  • Access to the Adyen Customer Area (test environment)

  • A merchant account linked to Valpay

  • API credentials (covered in the next section)

Next Step

After your account is provisioned, continue with:
API Credentials to retrieve the keys required for your integration

Key Takeaway

Always use a Valpay-provisioned Adyen account to ensure your integration works correctly. This guarantees access to all required configurations, features, and testing capabilities.
