1. How to Check the RSSI Signal Strength
RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) measures the strength of the signal between your Nayax device and the cellular network.
1.1 Check RSSI from the Card Reader
1. Press the three horizontal lines (menu button) on the physical card reader.
2. Select Terminal Info to view the RSSI signal.
Signal Strength Reference:
• 18–39: Good signal
• 99: Not communicating
• Below 18: Low signal
1.2 Check RSSI via Moma App
1. Open the Moma App and select Your Machine.
2. Tap Logs at the top right.
3. Choose Keep Alive to view RSSI numbers.
Tip: A consistent RSSI number indicates stable communication, while frequent fluctuations may suggest antenna or cell network issues.
1.3 Check RSSI via Nayax Web Application
1. Log in to the Nayax web application.
2. Click Operations and then Machine.
3. Click Search without entering anything in the search bar.
4. Select your machine from the populated list on the left.
Note: If your machines are not labeled, enter the location name in Machine Reference and click Save. To verify the Machine Number (Operator), check the serial number on the Nayax device or tap Terminal Info on the card reader.
2. How to Boost the Signal and Increase RSSI
1. Secure the Antenna Jack: Ensure the antenna jack is firmly connected to the back of the card reader.
2. Check or Upgrade the Antenna: Confirm that the small 2-inch antenna pole is firmly screwed on top of the machine. For better signal strength, consider replacing it with a high-gain antenna, which can be purchased here:
3. High-Gain Omni-Circular Antenna: Installing a Nayax High Gain Omni-Circular Antenna can provide an optimal signal boost.
4. Reset If Needed: If the RSSI remains at 99 (no connection), remove and reinsert the SIM card. Then, unplug the machine for three minutes. After plugging it back in, allow several minutes for the device to reconnect.
5. Contact Support: If the RSSI is still below 18 after installing a high-gain antenna, contact VapeTM Support for additional assistance.
3. Communication Errors Resulting in Disputes
When customers report that their money was taken but no product was dispensed, a communication error may be the cause. Even if the signal appears strong, transaction failures can occur.
3.1 Checking for Communication Errors
1. Log in to the Nayax web application and navigate to Keep Alive (as shown in the steps above).
2. Look at the two columns:
• RSSI (which you can also see in the Moma App)
• GPRS Fail
3. If there are communication errors, a number will appear in the GPRS Fail column. If it’s blank, there are no communication errors.
4. If you see multiple entries with error numbers, monitor them closely. If the issue continues, contact VapeTM Support for further troubleshooting.
