The Events module lets you create calendar events that appear as visual overlays on charts and reports, helping you correlate traffic changes with specific activities like promotions, closures, or campaigns.
Creating an event
Path: Events (top navigation) → + New event
Click Events in the top navigation bar.
The events calendar opens, showing all existing events.
Click + to create a new event.
Enter the event name, start date/time, end date/time, and choose a colour.
Click Save.
The event is now available to overlay on all charts and reports.
Showing events on reports and dashboards
On a report: In Step 4 (Graph visuals) of the report wizard, enable Show events. Event markers will appear on the chart at the correct dates.
On a dashboard widget: When configuring a Chart widget, enable the Show events option.
Common event types to create
Summer Sale | Mark promotional periods to explain traffic spikes. |
Public holiday | Explain traffic anomalies on national holidays. |
Store closure / renovation | Mark periods when data should be excluded from averages. |
New display / window change | Correlate with capture rate changes to measure effectiveness. |
Marketing campaign start | Measure uplift vs. baseline period. |
Tip: Creating events consistently makes your analytics far more useful. A traffic spike on a Tuesday is confusing without context — a "Flash Sale" event marker explains it immediately. Requires the Events permission (view) and Manage Events permission (create/edit).
