The Device Manager is where you find and manage all sensors across your locations. This article covers the sensor list, the sensor settings, remote connection, sensor validation and documentation. It is written for admins and installers.
Path: Settings (cogwheel) > Devices
The sensor list
Search by device name, ID or MAC address.
Select Company to show one company's sensors.
Status: show all, online only or offline only.
Export devices downloads the full list as a CSV file.
Columns: Location, Sensor (name, model, internal and external IP, firmware), Details (MAC address) and Features (Entrance, Realtime). A green dot means online, a red dot means offline.
Sensor settings
Click a sensor to open its settings:
Name: a clear name, for example "Entrance North".
Subscription: the subscription the sensor is linked to.
Tag data as: how the counts are labelled, for example Visitors entering.
MAC address: the hardware ID used to pair the sensor. Lookup vendor finds the manufacturer from the MAC address.
Vendor: the manufacturer, detected from the MAC address.
Is entrance: marks the sensor as an entrance sensor. This affects footfall totals.
Inverted: swaps In and Out if the sensor faces the other way.
Store zero: whether intervals with zero counts are stored.
Store events: whether sensor events are logged.
Exclude from health check: leaves the sensor out of health check rules, for example for test sensors.
Import sensor id and Custom sensor id: extra IDs used for imports and integrations.
Serial, Version, Firmware: hardware details.
IP / External IP: the sensor's local and public IP address.
First seen, Last seen, Last data: when the sensor was first seen, last contacted the platform and last sent data.
The three-dot menu for each sensor
Connect to device: opens the sensor's own web interface remotely (see below).
Download latest config: saves the sensor's current configuration as a file.
Create documentation: opens the documentation builder.
Sensor details: opens the Setup Tracking (FW5) dialog with single and multi-sensor sync settings.
Move sensor: moves the sensor to another location without deleting it.
Deactivate, Expire license, Delete: options for the end of a sensor's life.
Connect to device
This opens a secure live connection from Vemcount to the sensor's own web interface, so you can work on it without being on the same network.
Important: only online (green) sensors can be connected to. Offline (red) sensors cannot be reached. The window shows "Trying to communicate with [MAC address]" and then "Started a communication bridge with device" when it works.
In the sensor's web interface, installers can adjust counting lines and field of view, update firmware, check camera alignment and the live image, run diagnostics and calibrate tracking.
Sensor validation
Automatic: Health Checks run daily and flag sensors where In and Out differ by more than the limit you set (for example 10 %). See the Health Checks article.
Manual: an installer counts visitors by hand while watching the sensor's live feed, and compares with the live data (about 2 seconds delay). If the difference is below 10 %, the sensor passes. Above 10 %, the sensor is flagged for recalibration.
Sensor documentation
Use Create documentation to keep a permanent record for each sensor:
Enter the sensor name and mounting height.
Upload an installation photo showing where and how the sensor is mounted.
Upload a calibration photo showing the counting zone setup.
Add notes, for example installation date and site conditions. You can also add validation results.
Click Add sensor to save.
This record helps with audits, GDPR questions and recalibration after maintenance.
When to contact support
Connect to device fails for a sensor that shows green.
A sensor shows red and stays offline after you have checked power and network.
A sensor fails manual validation and you need recalibration.
Email support@vemcogroup.com with the location, the sensor name and its MAC address.
