Milesight LoRaWAN sensors (VS133, VS350, WS302) require a LoRaWAN gateway to relay their radio signals to Vemcount. This guide covers supported gateway models and how to connect them to the Vemcount network server.
Supported gateway models
UG65, UG56, UG67, UG63, SG50 — all using the 915 MHz or 868 MHz frequency band depending on your region.
Step 1 — Network requirements
The gateway must have internet access.
Outbound UDP port 1700 must be open to ttn.vemcount.app.
Step 2 — Configure the gateway (using UG65 as example)
Disable the built-in LNS on the gateway (the gateway should act as a packet forwarder only, not a standalone network server).
Log in to the gateway management interface.
Navigate to Packet Forward → General.
Configure the Semtech packet forwarder:
Server Address |
|
Uplink Port | 1700 |
Downlink Port | 1700 |
Save the settings.
Check the connection status — if it shows Connected, the gateway is successfully forwarding to Vemcount.
If the status does not show Connected, verify that UDP port 1700 outbound is not blocked by your firewall, and that the built-in LNS is fully disabled on the gateway.
Step 3 — Add the gateway to Vemcount
In Vemcount, go to ⚙ Settings → Services → Devices → Gateways → + New Gateway.
Fill in:
EUI | The gateway's EUI — found in the gateway's own management interface |
Frequency Plan | Select the correct regional band (EU868 for Europe, US915 for North America) |
Save — the gateway will appear in your gateway list.
Step 4 — Verify sensors are receiving
After adding the gateway and registering your LoRaWAN sensors, wait a few minutes. Sensors within range of the gateway should begin sending data to Vemcount. Check Settings → Devices for online/offline status.
Channel mode note
Milesight sensors default to Standard-Channel mode (multi-frequency). Only switch sensors to Single-Channel mode if you are using a DS7610 gateway — all other Milesight gateways support standard multi-channel operation.
