Brickstream — device naming convention & Device Manager setup

Brickstream sensor naming convention for Vemcount Device Manager — Site ID, Device ID, Device Name, and External Site ID rules to ensure correct device matching.

Brickstream sensors require a specific naming convention when registering them in the Vemcount Device Manager. Incorrect naming prevents the platform from correctly identifying and routing the device. Follow this guide exactly.

Naming convention

Brickstream devices use four fields that must be set consistently:

Company name (Site ID)

The company name of where the sensor will be installed. This is the value the Device Manager uses to match the device on connection. Must match exactly.
Example: CompanyA

Site name

Use the Custom Shop ID from Vemcount, or a unique identifier for the sensor placement.
Example: 1455506

Device ID

The shop name from Vemcount, or the format: country – city
Example: DK – Copenhagen

Device name

Must be identical to Device ID.

Device Manager setup

When adding a Brickstream device in the Vemcount Device Manager, configure it as follows (using CompanyA as the example company name):

Company name

CompanyA

Site name

uncalibrated (until calibration is complete)

External Site ID

CompanyA (must match Company name)

Important: The External Site ID and Company name must match exactly — the Device Manager uses this value to identify the device when it connects. A mismatch will cause the device to appear as unknown and data will not flow to the correct location in Vemcount.

After installation is complete

Once the Brickstream sensor is physically installed and calibrated:

  1. Update the Site name from uncalibrated to the correct Custom Shop ID or location identifier.

  2. Verify the sensor appears online in Settings → Devices.

  3. Confirm live data is flowing to the correct location and zone in Vemcount.
