Locations

This guide explains what locations represent in Vemcount and how they are used across reporting, access, and data selection.

Locations are the main reporting units for individual stores, branches, or buildings. They combine relevant visitor data for a physical site and are used across dashboards, reports, user access, and data imports.

In Vemcount terminology, the Location source gives a full overview of a store or building's external traffic. If a site has multiple entrances, the Location source shows the total number of visitors across all entrances combined. Location assignment is also important for access control, because users can be assigned to an entire company or to selected locations only.

Source

What it shows

Typical use

Location

Total visitor traffic for the store or building across relevant entrances.

Use this when you need the main overall view for a site.

Entrance

Visitor data broken down by each individual entrance.

Use this when you need entrance-by-entrance comparison.

Zone

Visitor data for a defined internal area or custom sensor combination.

Use this for specific internal areas such as checkout or mall zones.

How to work with locations

  1. Open the relevant Vemcount module, such as Dashboards, Reports, or a data manager.

  2. Select the correct company if more than one company is available to your account.

  3. Choose the required location when you need store- or building-level data.

  4. Use the Entrance source instead of the Location source if you need a breakdown by entry point.

  5. Use the Zone source when the required analysis relates to a specific internal area rather than the whole site.

  6. If a location is not visible, check whether the user has been assigned access to the correct company and location.

Important: If a user cannot see the expected location when creating a dashboard or report, the account may not have been assigned access to that company or location.
