Three things decide what a user can do and see in Vemcount. Permissions decide what the user is allowed to do. Roles are saved sets of permissions you can reuse. Company and location access decides which data the user can see. A user needs all three to work normally.
Where to find permissions
Cogwheel icon > Users > select the user > Permissions & Access > Permissions
How to give a user permissions
Click the cogwheel icon and select Users.
Open an existing user, or create a new one. When you create a user, fill in the user details and click Save and go to permissions.
Open the Permissions section.
Turn on the permissions one by one, or apply a predefined role.
Go to Companies and give the user access to the right company, location or sub-location.
Save. If you are not sure the setup is right, test the account before you send the welcome email.
Important: a user can have the right permissions and still see no data if no company or location access has been assigned.
Access levels
Not every permission uses the same options. Depending on the permission, you can choose:
Off: no access to the feature.
View: the user can see the feature but cannot change it.
Manage: the user can set up, edit, create and delete.
Full access: all permissions in the section.
View only: read-only access across the section, where this option exists.

Roles or individual permissions?
Use a role when several users need the same access. It keeps access consistent and is quicker to manage. Use individual permissions only when one user needs an exception to a standard role.
Best practice
Use roles where you can.
Always check both permissions and company or location access.
Test the account after setup if you are in doubt.
