My chat history disappeared

Conversation data is stored locally on your device or browser for privacy. It is not kept as a server-side copy Venice can restore for you.

If chats are missing, first check that you are on the same device, browser, browser profile, app/PWA/APK install, login method, and account you originally used. Local storage is separate in each environment, so another browser, app, or account can look empty.

If the original local storage is gone and no backup exists, there is no server-side copy to restore. Encrypted backups (Pro) can preserve and restore chat history across supported environments, including web, mobile browser/PWA, APK, desktop, and the iOS/Android App Store apps, only if you created a backup before the data was lost. Path: Chat History Drawer → Profile → Backup Chat History. The backup is encrypted locally with a password only you control, and Venice cannot read or recover it without that password.

For a quick one-off transfer without restoring a backup, ask the chat to create a condensed summary, then paste that summary into a new chat on the other device. Download any generated content you want to keep long term.
