Agentic chat is Venice's default chat experience, available at venice.ai/chat/agent. Instead of a single model answering a single message, an agent breaks your request into steps, picks the right tool for each step, and delivers results across text, images, video, web search, and file analysis in one conversation.

When you send a message, the agent reasons about the task, picks a tool, runs it, looks at the result, and decides what to do next, repeating until the task is done. Each step streams to you in real time. For example, it might search the web, generate an image from what it found, then animate that image into a video, all from a single prompt.

Image, video, web search, and file analysis tools activate automatically. For image and video generation, the agent selects the best model for the request from the models available to your account. You can also tell the agent which model to use. Video generation always asks for confirmation before it starts, since it costs credits.

The agent defaults to free models whenever possible. If a task would benefit from a premium model, a banner asks whether you want to enable premium models; you can opt in or stay on free models. Once enabled, the preference persists, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings under Usage.

Agentic chat supports uploads including PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, Markdown, and plain text, up to 25MB per file and 50MB total per message.

With the default agent model, your conversation runs privately on Venice-controlled GPU infrastructure with zero data retention, and conversation history is stored only on your device. If you select a third-party frontier model as your agent, Venice acts as an anonymizing proxy that strips identifying metadata before the request reaches the provider. Classic Chat at venice.ai/chat/classic remains available and gives you direct manual control: the full model catalog, manual model switching, seed values, custom system prompts, and settings like temperature, plus features such as Characters and music generation. Use agentic chat for multi-step and multimodal tasks, and Classic Chat when you want to drive a specific model yourself.
