If your payment failed or your card was declined when trying to subscribe or purchase credits on Venice, there are a few common reasons this can happen — and the fastest resolution is to contact your card issuer or bank directly.
Common reasons for payment failure
An overdue invoice blocking new charges (this can also cause a subscription to be canceled)
A temporary error creating the checkout session
Insufficient funds or credit limit reached
Card issuer blocking the transaction (often for international or online purchases)
Card details entered incorrectly (number, expiry date, or CVV)
Card expired
Bank flagging the charge as unusual or suspicious
Prepaid or virtual cards not supported by the payment processor
What to do
Contact your card issuer or bank — call the number on the back of your card and ask them to confirm whether the transaction was blocked and why. They can often approve Venice charges on the spot.
Check your card details — make sure the card number, expiry date, and CVV are entered correctly, and that your billing address matches what your bank has on file.
Try a different payment method — if you have another card available, try using that instead.
Check your account balance — ensure you have sufficient funds or available credit to cover the charge.
If an overdue invoice is blocking charges, update your payment details and re-subscribe from the billing/subscription page. If you're seeing a checkout error specifically, try closing and relaunching the app, then attempting checkout again — this can resolve temporary issues with the checkout flow.
Still having trouble?
