By integrating treatment protocols into VetLogix, veterinarians can improve treatment accuracy, enhance animal health outcomes and streamline communication with farmers. VetLogix includes the ability to add detailed instructions on medication administration, dosage calculations based on weight, withdrawal periods for milk and meat and more.
How to add and manage treatment protocols
From the side navigation, select Configuration > Treatment Protocols.
Select the Add Protocol button to start building a new treatment protocol.
The first section involves naming your protocol, assigning a category, health condition and adding any notes regarding the protocol plan.
The next step is to add your first task to the treatment plan. For each task, you can choose from a number of options to add to this specific course of treatment. That includes, linking to a specific product, how the product should be administered, start and end times for treatment, weight multiplier and how many days to withhold milk and withhold meat, if applicable. You can also add in treatment specific notes relating to our chosen task.
To add additional tasks to a treatment protocol, select the Add Task button underneath your current task and then fill in all the necessary fields.
Once you've added all the tasks to the protocol, select Save.
Back on the main protocols screen you can see the new protocol was added. However, it is not yet published because there is no circle with a checkmark displayed under the PUBLISHED column. This means it will not be available for selection as a treatment protocol just yet.
To start the process of getting it published, select the treatment protocol name. Selecting the protocol name is also how you edit and make changes to a protocol.
When you open the protocol you can see the current version, the created date and who created it.
To make the protocol available for use, select the Publish button located in the top right of the screen.
Now back on the protocols screen you can see the status is showing as Published. If you had this treatment protocol as part of a published binder you will need to either create a new binder or clone the existing one and then add the updated protocol to it.
If you need to make any changes to a protocol, or even unpublish one, select the protocol name and make your updates.
