How Referrals Are Tracked and What Counts

How a referral is attributed to you

When a pet owner uses your referral code or link, VetVerifi records the association. Referrals are tracked two ways:

  • Referral link — the pet owner clicks your unique link and signs up. The referral is automatically recorded.

  • Referral code — the pet owner enters your code during checkout or account creation. This works for in-person referrals where they didn't click your link directly.

💡 For in-person referrals — like handing a client a card at drop-off — the referral code is the most reliable method.

What counts as a qualifying referral

A referral is confirmed and commission is earned when the referred pet owner completes their first purchase on VetVerifi — either purchasing a SmartTag or subscribing to a VetVerifi plan.

Simply creating a free account does not trigger a commission. The pet owner must complete a paid transaction.

What doesn't count

  • Referrals of existing VetVerifi customers — if the pet owner already has an account, the referral won't be attributed

  • Self-referrals — you cannot refer yourself or employees of your business

  • Referrals where the code was entered after checkout

How you find out about your referrals

The VetVerifi team sends you a monthly referral summary by email listing each qualifying referral, the date it was confirmed, and your running balance. If you believe a referral wasn't captured, contact support@vetverifi.com with the pet owner's name and approximate signup date.
