A new partnership between 1CapApp and Videolinq helps broadcasters add real-time closed captioning on live video sent to social media platforms. The workflow is simple, cost-effective, and efficient. All you will need is a stenograph operator, access to a 1CapApp account, and any Videolinq plan.

Open a Videolinq Account
Step 1
Open a Videolinq account and log in to the media dashboard. Create a Channel, a destination(s), and a video Source. Important: only video from an RTMP source is supported to add real-time closed captioning to a live stream.
Step 2
Click the "CC" icon under the channel preview player. Select the 3rd option "Add manual closed captioning to the video" and copy the credentials.
Open 1CapApp Account
Step 3
Open a 1CapApp account. Create a new event and in the session setup area paste the credentials you took or received from the step before.
Important note:
When setting up your 1CapApp connection use the TCP socket method and not the HTTP mode. This will improve connectivity between the stenograph operator and 1CapApp.
Some social media platforms restrict the input of closed captioning to 1 line only. In the 1CapApp settings force the output to Videolinq to use 1 line
Step 4
Back at the Videolinq dashboard, click on the "Encoder" tab copy the RTMP path, and streamkey to your RTMP encoder. Now, start your RTMP encoder. The video will show in the preview player. Click "Go Live". The channel must be active before you move to step 5.
Step 5
Ask your stenograph operator to send captions data to the 1CapApp service. Wait about 10 seconds. A CC icon will show up on the preview player upper right corner. Enable captions to see them on the preview player.
Step 6
Video with CEA-608 closed captioning is now available in the channel. Create a player to embed on your website, or add destinations to send video + closed captioning to supported social media platforms and 3rd party streaming service providers. Video with closed captioning will be displayed on supported platforms and services. Viewers will be able to enable/disable closed captioning on their players.
IMPORTANT: To support multi-lingual closed captioning use one Videolinq channel per language. For example, if you want to support 1x stream in English and 1x stream in Spanish, create 2x Videolinq channels, with 2x video sources. Get the CC credentials for each language, and build a separate "event" for that language in 1CapApp.
