You can stream to Facebook with Videolinq in two ways: the first option will use the Facebook API. Create a new Destination and select "Login to Facebook". This option will automate some of the steps when creating a new live stream. The second option is to "Connect Manually" to Facebook. This option provide more flexibility in setting up and controlling a live stream. We recommend using this option when you need the ability to control enhanced features such as chat, polls, and advertising insertions.

Using "Login to Facebook"

Create a Facebook destination and select the "Login to Facebook" option. You will be prompt with the first option, log in to Facebook by using the Facebook Login option. In the Videolinq media dashboard create a new channel, add Facebook as a destination, and click on "Login to Facebook". You will be prompt to select where to send the live stream: to your timeline, pages you own or can edit, and a group you manage.

Repeat this step to create multiple Facebook destinations for each additional page or group you want to stream to. Each output stream will go to the designated target page or group assigned. This method will use multiple destinations from the poll allowed for your hosting plan, and limit you from live streaming to other destinations such as YouTube or Twitter.

Important: When streaming to public groups you do not manage, you must ask the group administrator permission to live stream to that group. Private groups only allow live streams created by the group administrator.

Using multiple "destination profiles" of the same stream will use quickly all available destinations in your subscription plan. A more efficient way is to send Facebook one stream to your timeline as an example, and use the "Facebook Crossposting" feature to replicate that live stream to multiple pages and groups. When using this method you must have permission to post to the additional pages and groups as explained.

Use "Connect Manually" to Facebook

The other option is to connect manually to Facebook: login to the Videolinq media dashboard, click on "Connect Manually". In a separate tab or browser open Facebook, log in, and create a live stream. Here you can also select where you want the stream to post from your profile timeline, pages, and group; Schedule the stream, add graphics polls and questions, and enable chat. This option help monitor better the live stream, and perform changes to the post/recorded clip after the broadcast ends.

Live stream to your timeline and multiple pages and groups: you can broadcast live video to multiple pages and groups with Videolinq. Create one destination per target page/group using the "Login to Facebook" option. For enhanced features and better control of your Facebook live stream - use the "Connect Manually" option.

Live streaming to pages or groups outside your profile: need to stream to a page or group you do not own? Ask the page owner to grant you access as a Contributor or Editor. Once this permission is granted you will see the page as a target for your live stream. After the page owner or public group administrator granted you access, they will appear on the drop down list you see when creating a new Destination using the "Login to Facebook" option.

Live stream to group rule: now this gets tricky. In a public group, the group administrator must give you permission to live stream to the group. In a private group, only the administrator can live stream to a private group.

Facebook Crossposting: this is a feature Facebook provides to replicate single incoming live stream to multiple pages and groups where you have permission to publish live video. Crossposting is only available when using the "Login to Facebook" option and is explained in more details here.

IMPORTANT: Facebook periodically updates their account limits. Some of these limits will block live streaming to a page or group. For example, when a User is blocked on a page or a group, the block may apply to all their other pages and groups. The best way to find if you are block from publishing live video to a page or a group (when using the 'Facebook Login' method), is to use another profile login to live stream to another page or group. If you can live stream from your Videolinq channel to another Facebook page or group, but not to the one you wanted earlier, this would be an indication that the profile you tried first is blocked.
