Regional entry point to Videolinq

Improve the quality of broadcasts by connection to Videolinq in a data center near you.

Updated over a week ago

Introduction

The quality of a live broadcast depends on many factors. One reason live streams buffer or skip frames is because the "transmitter" (your webcam or RTMP encoder) is far away from the media server (Videolinq). To reduce the chance of streaming a bad signal live, we recommend customers connect to our network via the closest entry point to their place. Videolinq is offering multiple entry points to our network. Here is the current list of media servers we have in alphabetical order:

Autodetect (connect to nearby region)

NA (New York)

NA (Los Angeles

SA (San Paulo)

EU (Frankfurt)

Asia (Singapore)

First Time Configuration

When using Videolinq for the first time, you will be prompted to configure a video source in the channel. Click on the green "New Source" icon.

Create a new source.

Give the source a name you will remember, and drop down the media server tab. Select the entry point close to your current location. Click "Create".

The video source you created is now "Active". Continue configuring Destinations, a Player, adding Closed Captioning or Steam Protection to the channel.

Change a Region

You can change a region anytime. Click on the red square to stop the video source. Click on the 3 dots and select "Edit".

Drop down and regional list of servers and select another location. Click "Create".

If you changed a region after the first configuration, and you are using RTMP as a video source, expand the "Encoder" tab and copy the new RTMP path to your RTMP encoder.

If you changed a region after the first configuration, and you are adding closed captioning to the stream with option #3, update your service with the new HTTPS path. The stream key and password stay the same.

Entry Point Maintenance

We do maintenance from time to time on regional servers. During this time the servers may not be accessible. To prevent downtime, always confirm connectivity before a broadcast by starting the stream and verifying that the video appears in the channel preview player. Can't connect to an origin server? Change settings to "Autodetect" or to another region.
