The best way to activate a live channel!

Learn what is the correct order to start a live channel.

Updated over a week ago

A Videolinq channel is the center of your live streaming workflow. A channel accepts different video sources, can distribute a live signal to multiple destinations, attach a scheduler to automate channel activation, and provide the source to create a player.

To activate a channel you must take few steps in this order:

(a) Enable the video source.

(b) Push "Go Live".

(c) Start destinations.

(d) Optional: create a player and embed on a website or blog.

Enable the video source:

Select from a Webcam, a recorded file, a RTMP encoder, or a live stream (RTMP or RTSP source). Click on the green play icon and it will change to a red square. Video will show in the preview player as follow -

Webcam source - as soon you push the green play icon.

Recorded file - as soon as you push 'Go Live'.

RTMP encoder - as soon as the RTMP encoder connects to Videolinq.

Live stream - as soon as you push 'Go Live'.

โ€‹Push Go Live:

When you push the green 'Go Live' button the channel becomes "active". Now video is available in the channel for the player, and to send to destinations.

Start destinations:

Push 'Start All' or click on the green play icon near every destination to manual start transmission of live video to the target destination(s).

IMPORTANT: When connecting to social media platforms via Videolinq. you are prompt to enter your login credentials. The social media platform assigns a unique 'stream key' to your stream. Some platforms like Facebook will require a new stream key if you start and stop the stream for 2 minutes or more. You will see a red alert on the Videolinq console telling you that Facebook is updating with a new stream key. To avoid this use the manual mode and generate a persistent stream key as explained here.
