If you need to record information about your vehicles, but appropriate fields are not available in Vimcar Fleet, you can add your own custom fields. You can display and edit these fields in the vehicle overview and the vehicle details.

Step 1: Open the custom fields overview

You can open the Custom fields for vehicles overview in the following ways:

  • In the Vehicles overview, click Adjust table and then click Add fields.

or

  • Click the menu item Settings, then click the menu item Fields.

Step 2: Add the field

  1. Click the + button at the top right of the table.

  2. Select the type of field, then click Next.

  3. Enter a name for the field.

  4. Under Visibility, select where to display the field: in the table of all vehicles, in the details of individual vehicles, or both.

For a dropdown list, click the + icon to add the options that you can select in the list.

  5. Click Save.

Your new field appears at the bottom of the custom fields overview.

Step 3: Fill in the field

You can add the field in the vehicles overview (the table of all vehicles) or the details of an individual vehicle. When you fill in the field in one view, its value automatically appears in the other view.

In the Vehicles overview:

  1. Click Activate editing, then enter the information in the field. You can press the Enter key on your keyboard to jump to the next field in the table.

  2. Click Deactivate editing when you are finished, otherwise you will not be able to open the vehicle detail view.

In the vehicle details:

  1. In the Custom fields section, click the edit button:

  2. Fill in the field, then click the tick icon to save.
