Navigate the map

There are several ways to zoom in and out:

  • Click the + or - icon at the bottom right of the map.

  • Double-click the left mouse button to zoom in and double-click the right mouse button to zoom out.

  • If your mouse has a scroll button, you can use it to zoom in and out.

To move the map, click and hold the mouse button and move the mouse in the appropriate direction.

Click on a vehicle marker to view details of the vehicle in the vehicles list to the left of the map.

Click on a custom location to view details of the location and find the vehicle nearest to the location.

Change the map type

Click the flag icon at the bottom right to select a map type.

Google map: The standard Google Maps map, which includes markers for landmarks, hotels, restaurants, shops, and so on.

Vimcar map: This map type is simpler and only shows markers for your vehicles and custom locations.

Satellite: A satellite view of the standard Google map.

Traffic: Highlights in red sections of roads with heavy traffic or traffic jams.

Change the display of vehicles

Click the car icon at the bottom right to select how to display vehicles.

Icon: Shows a small arrow representing the vehicle’s location and direction of travel. When you move the mouse pointer over an arrow, the corresponding vehicle is highlighted in the vehicles list to the right of the map. If the vehicle is not moving, a car icon is displayed instead of an arrow.

Nickname: Shows the vehicle’s nickname as well as the arrow/icon. If the vehicle has no nickname, the make and model are displayed instead.

Registration number: Shows the vehicle’s license plate number as well as the arrow/icon.

Driver: Shows the name of the driver (if known) as well as the arrow/icon.

Select custom locations to display

If you have created your own locations with different labels, click the pin button at the bottom right to select which locations you want to see on the map.

Refresh the map

The map is automatically updated every 20 seconds, so the vehicle location is accurate to within 20 seconds. You can also update the map manually by clicking the Refresh icon at the top right of the map.
