Fleet can notify you when vehicles move within or outside of a specific timeframe, or move into or out of a specific area.

Fencing alerts give you more control over your vehicles' movements and can be useful in many ways, for example:

  • Theft protection: Vehicles should not move outside normal working hours.

  • Scheduling: Vehicles are approaching your warehouse.

  • Insurance restrictions: Vehicles should not leave the country.

  • Environmental protection: Certain vehicles should not drive in environmental “green zone” areas.

In this article:

Create a fence

  1. Click the menu item Map, then click the menu item Fencing.

  2. Click the + button at the top right of the Fencing overview.

  3. Enter a name for the fence.

  4. Select the type of fence: Geofence or Timefence or both.
    Timefence:
    Select the days and the start and end times.
    Select whether you want to be notified of vehicle movements within the timeframe or outside of the timeframe.

    Geofence:
    Select whether you want to be notified when the vehicle leaves the area or enters the area.
    Use the address search to locate the area on the map.
    Draw the fence.

  5. Select the vehicles to which the fence applies.

  6. Click Create fence.

The fence appears in the Fencing overview. When you move your mouse pointer over a map icon in the table, a preview of the fence is displayed.

How to draw a fence

Click on the icons at the top left of the map to draw a radius or a shape.

Radius

Click on the radius icon, then click on the map and move the mouse.

To change the size of the radius, click one of the dots on the edge of the radius and then move the mouse.

Shape

  1. Click on the shape icon.

  2. Click on the map, move the mouse, then click again. The first edge of the shape appears as two dots connected with a line.

  3. Move the mouse and click to draw the next edge.

  4. When you have finished drawing the edges, double-click to complete the shape.

To change the shape, click the appropriate dot on the edge of the shape, then move the mouse.

Move or delete the fence

To move your fence, click on the hand icon, then click on the radius or shape and move the mouse.

To delete your fence, click on the dustbin icon.

Set up alerts

After you have set up your fence, you can specify how you want to be alerted to movements within or outside of the fence.

In the Fencing overview, check the appropriate boxes for each fence to receive emails or push notifications. Push notifications are sent to your smartphone.

View fencing events

You can view a list of all vehicle movements that resulted in a fencing alert.

In the Fencing overview, click on the three dots at the end of the appropriate row and select Show events.

In the Events table, click To route history to view details of the vehicle’s movements.

Edit or delete a fence

In the Fencing overview, click on the three dots at the end of the appropriate row and select Edit or Delete.
