The latest mileage record within Vimcar Fleet is the most recent measurement of a vehicle's distance travelled according to our records. This value corresponds to the latest odometer reading supplied by you. You can find this feature after clicking into any vehicle within your fleet. Depending on your Vimcar Fleet licences, you can enter these data records manually, or our system can aggregate trip data autonomously and present an estimate derived from this information. To increase accuracy, we recommend regular manual entry of odometer data. This proactive approach ensures that the records match the real-time data as closely as possible, providing a more accurate insight into your vehicle's usage and performance.

Why is the estimated mileage displayed in Fleet different from what I see on my vehicle’s dashboard?

The mileage number displayed in Fleet is an estimate and may not exactly match the real-time data on your vehicle’s dashboard. Here's why:

  1. Estimation Nature: The mileage figure in Fleet is a calculated estimate, not a real-time reading. This means there might be variations due to the dynamic nature of driving conditions.

  2. Past Records and Trip Information: We derive this estimate from the historical data you manually share with us and the trip information gathered if you have a Fleet Geo license.* By analyzing these records, we generate a mileage approximation.

*If you only have Fleet Geo in your product portfolio, mileage data undergoes a weekly update without any additional mileage forecast estimations. Instead, we provide you with the latest calculated value based on the trip information.

While we strive for accuracy, it's essential to acknowledge that real-time factors such as driving habits, road conditions, and unforeseen circumstances can influence the dashboard's immediate reading. The Fleet estimation serves as a valuable reference point but may not mirror the exact data visible on your dashboard.

How is my Latest Odometer Value updated if I have a Fleet Geo license?

With a Fleet Geo license, your latest odometer record is updated at least once a week. We aggregate the mileages recorded from the trips taken throughout the week. This cumulative data is then updated, providing an accurate reflection of your overall mileage. When you access the Odometer widget in the Vehicle Detail Page and navigate to View History, you'll notice that the source of this record is labeled as "Geo trip data." It's important to note that your latest odometer record can be influenced by either the manual input you provide or the trip data automatically updated on a weekly basis.
