Filevine® uses Personal Authentication Tokens, or PAT for short, to allow you to connect to third-party applications offered by partners like Vinetegrate®.

Our apps that support PAT are:

  • VineConnect®

  • VineMigrator®

  • VineCalc®

Filevine® offers their own support resources for generating and connecting to apps using PAT. You can check that out here.

The instructions below are primarily focused on generating and configuring PAT within our apps.

How to Connect to Vinetegrate® Apps with PAT (4 Minute Video)

Quick Steps for Filevine PAT authentication

1. Access the Filevine org and open the 'Advanced Menu.'

2. Navigate to 'Integrations' and activate your required service for the Vinetegrate app you want to connect, like VineConnect, VineMigrator, or VineCalc.

3. Go to 'Service Accounts' and create a new account for each app.

4. Move to 'Setup' -> 'Users and Activity,' where you'll find 'Personal Access Tokens' under 'Access Tokens.'

5. Create a new token and assign it a name, such as 'VineMigrator'.

6. Select the user linked to the token, either a newly created one or an existing user. 7. Assign appropriate scopes like 'Filevine API Access' and 'WebHook API Access' for specific integrations. NOTE: In most cases, you'll want to just add all scopes to take advantage of all features across all Vinetegrate apps.

8. Click 'Create' to finalize the token creation.

9. Copy the token details provided on the screen (it will only be displayed once).

10. Use this token in the integration's authentication settings by choosing 'Personal Access Token.'

You're done! Reach out to api-help@filevine.com or visit Filevine's Support Center with chat if you get stuck on any of the steps above.
