What is Markdown?
Markdown is a lightweight markup language that you can use to add formatting elements to plaintext text documents.
With Markdown, you can add headers, bulleted or numbered lists, links, images and more by following special formatting rules.
For example, to denote a heading, you add a number sign before it (e.g., # Heading One
). Or to make a phrase bold, you add two asterisks before and after it (e.g., **this text is bold**
).
If you're new to Markdown, you can refer to this Cheat Sheet (you'll also find links to this page within Virtually).
Alternatively, you can use a tool like Paste to Markdown. Let's say you have a document in Google Docs that's rich text - with bolds, italics, headings, and more. Simply copy that document and paste it in the paste to Markdown page. Your text will be auto-converted into Markdown, which you can then copy and add into Virtually!
Where can you use Markdown in Virtually?
Virtually Event Manager users can leverage Markdown in Announcements.
Simply write out your text in Markdown and click the preview button to see how it will look to your learners:
And that's that! Pretty soon we'll be adding Markdown elsewhere in the platform, so stay tuned!
