When applying for a U.S. Tourist & Business Visa, the documentation you provide plays a critical role in the success of your application. Some documents are mandatory for all applicants, while others are recommended depending on personal circumstances.

Mandatory Documents

  1. Valid Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended travel date. It should also have blank pages for the visa stamp.

  2. DS-160 Confirmation Page: After completing the DS-160 online form, you will receive a confirmation page with a barcode. This is required at both your interview and the Application Support Center (ASC) appointment.

  3. Government Fee Receipt: Proof of payment of the $185 USD consular fee is essential to secure your interview appointment.

  4. Appointment Confirmation Letter: This document confirms the date, time, and location of your interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Recommended Supporting Documents

  • Proof of Employment: A letter from your employer stating your position, salary, and approval for vacation leave.

  • Financial Evidence: Bank statements, pay slips, or proof of property ownership that demonstrate your ability to cover travel costs.

  • Travel Itinerary: Hotel reservations, flight bookings, or a letter of invitation from family/friends in the U.S.

  • Medical Evidence (if applicable): For those traveling for treatment, include medical records and appointment confirmations.

Why Supporting Documents Matter

The consular officer makes a decision primarily based on the interview, but supporting documents provide credibility and consistency to your answers. They demonstrate ties to your home country and the ability to return after your trip.

VisaClick’s Role

VisaClick reviews every applicant’s documents and provides clear guidance on what to present. We ensure that supporting evidence matches the information in your DS-160 and that nothing critical is missing.
