What are GLP-1s?

GLP-1s (glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists) are medications that were originally developed to treat diabetes, but are now widely used for weight loss. They work by reducing appetite, slowing stomach emptying, and improving insulin function.

Wegovy vs. Ozempic / Zepbound vs. Mounjaro:

  • Wegovy and Zepbound are FDA-approved for weight loss

  • Ozempic and Mounjaro are approved for diabetes management

What medications are included in Vitable’s GLP-1 program?

We currently prescribe Wegovy (semaglutide) and Zepbound (tirzepatide).

Who is eligible?

To qualify, you must meet FDA-approved criteria for weight loss medications:

  • BMI > 30, or

  • BMI ≥ 27 with at least one weight-related condition (e.g., high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, heart disease, fatty liver, and osteoarthritis)

What if I don’t qualify?

If GLP-1s aren’t appropriate for you, your provider will work with you to create a personalized weight management plan.
