Taking your first (or any) blood sample yourself can sometimes be tricky. That's why we have created the test to be as easy to use as possible, along with step-by-step instructions included in the box. You can also find further instructions here.
In the box, you will find one collection tube (sometimes referred to as a "vial") along with three lancets.
First, ensure you have registered your blood test kit via your Vitl account at vitl.com/kit;
We recommend taking your blood sample first thing in the morning, at least 9 hours after your last meal to not affect the cholesterol reading;
Blood flow can be helped massively by doing some exercise and / or having a hot shower beforehand;
Once your hand is nice and warm, use the antibacterial wipe to clean the end of the finger from which you plan to take a sample;
Next, use a lancet to draw blood from your finger. Don't worry, you won't even see the tiny pin;
If you are unable to draw enough blood, you can use the other two lancets and try again on another finger;
Deposit the sample into the vial and ensure the lid clicks shut;
Invert your sample 10 times then place it in the prepaid postage bag provided and send it to the lab.
Please return your sample as soon as possible after taking it to ensure it arrives promptly at our lab for analysis.
We advise allowing 3-5 working days for your sample to be received by the lab and for the results to be processed. Once the lab receives your sample, they will email you to say that they have received this. Your results should then be ready 48 hours after this when you will receive another email notification explaining how to use the results in combination with your vitamin recommendations.
