When you apply a Sibionics GS3 Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) sensor, it requires a short warm-up period before it starts providing glucose readings. Here’s what you need to know about the calibration process.

1. How long does calibration take?

Sibionics GS3 CGM sensors require a 60-minute (1-hour) warm-up period after application.

During this time:

  • The sensor is adjusting to your body

  • Glucose readings will not yet be available

  • You won’t see glucose data in the Vively app until calibration is complete

This warm-up period is normal and expected.

2. Why does the sensor need time to calibrate?

When the sensor is first applied, the tiny filament sits just under the skin and begins measuring glucose in the interstitial fluid.

The calibration period allows the sensor to:

  • ✅ Stabilise for accurate readings

  • ✅ Adjust to your body’s glucose environment

  • ✅ Begin transmitting reliable glucose data to the app

This helps ensure the data you see once the sensor is active is as accurate and consistent as possible.

3. How can I tell when calibration is complete?

After approximately 1 hour, your Sibionics GS3 sensor will begin displaying glucose readings.

You should then see data:

  • In the Sibionics app

  • Syncing through to the Vively app automatically

If you’re not seeing glucose data after 60 minutes, try:

  • 🔄 Restarting your smartphone

  • 📡 Checking that Bluetooth is enabled

  • 🔍 Ensuring the sensor is securely attached to your skin

4. Are readings accurate immediately after calibration?

Once the warm-up period is complete, your sensor will start providing glucose data. However, it’s normal for readings to be slightly less stable during the first 24 hours.

Small fluctuations early on can occur as the sensor continues to settle.

Key takeaway

  • The Sibionics GS3 sensor has a 1-hour warm-up period

  • No glucose data will appear until calibration is complete

  • Early readings may fluctuate slightly during the first day

  • This is normal and part of the sensor settling process

Understanding the calibration period helps ensure you get the most accurate and useful glucose insights from your CGM experience.
