The Sibionics GS3 CGM sensor is designed to automatically transmit glucose data to your phone via Bluetooth. Unlike some other CGM systems, manual scanning is not required for ongoing data collection.
1. Do I need to scan my Sibionics GS3 sensor?
No — scanning is not required.
Once your Sibionics GS3 sensor is:
correctly applied, and
successfully activated in the Sibionics app
…it will automatically send glucose readings to your phone using Bluetooth.
You do not need to scan the sensor during the day to receive glucose data.
2. How does the Sibionics GS3 sensor send data?
The Sibionics GS3 sensor works as follows:
The sensor continuously measures glucose levels
Glucose data is transmitted automatically via Bluetooth
The Sibionics app receives this data in real time
The data syncs through to the Vively app for insights and reporting
As long as Bluetooth is enabled and your phone is nearby, glucose data will continue to flow automatically.
3. What should I do if data stops updating?
If you notice a gap in glucose data, try the following steps:
- Check that Bluetooth is turned on
- Keep your phone within range of the sensor
- Open the Sibionics app to ensure it’s running
- Refresh the Vively app (pull down on the Track page)
- Restart your phone if data still isn’t updating
In most cases, data will resume automatically once the connection is re-established.
4. Do I ever need to rescan or reconnect the sensor?
You do not need to manually scan the sensor.
However, you may need to reconnect the sensor in the Sibionics app if:
Bluetooth was turned off for an extended period
Your phone battery ran flat
The app was force-closed or stopped running in the background
Simply opening the Sibionics app will usually re-establish the connection.
5. Key differences vs scanning-based CGMs
If you’ve used a scanning-based CGM before, this behaviour may feel different. With Sibionics GS3:
❌ No NFC scanning required
✅ Automatic Bluetooth data transmission
✅ Continuous glucose data once activated
This makes glucose tracking more seamless and hands-off.
Key takeaway
The Sibionics GS3 sensor does not require scanning
Glucose data is sent automatically via Bluetooth
Keep Bluetooth enabled for continuous tracking
If data pauses, reconnect by opening the Sibionics app
Once set up, very little manual interaction is needed.
