What is a custom pathology panel?
A custom pathology panel is any pathology request that you build yourself.
Rather than being limited to a fixed panel, you can choose exactly which biomarkers—or bundles—you'd like included.
Many practitioners use the Baseline Health Check as a starting point before adding additional biomarkers that are relevant to their client's presentation.
What bundles are available?
The Practitioner Platform includes a range of pre-built pathology bundles.
These are designed to simplify common testing scenarios while still giving you the flexibility to customise the request.
One of these bundles is the Baseline Health Check, which provides a comprehensive starting point across multiple areas of health.
Additional bundles may also be available depending on the testing pathway.
Can I combine bundles with additional biomarkers?
Yes.
This is one of the most common ways practitioners use the platform.
For example, many practitioners:
select the Baseline Health Check
then add additional biomarkers based on their client's presentation or clinical goals.
You can also combine other bundles or add individual biomarkers to create a personalised pathology request.
How does the Medicare-supported pathway work?
The Baseline Health Check is the only bundle that follows Vively's Medicare-supported pathway.
If you include the Baseline Health Check within your referral, any additional biomarkers you select that fall outside that pathway will be treated as private-pay items.
Any applicable private-pay costs are clearly presented before your client proceeds.
Can I build a completely custom panel?
Absolutely.
If you prefer not to use one of the pre-built bundles, you can build your own panel by selecting individual biomarkers.
This allows you to create highly targeted pathology requests based on your clinical assessment.
How are pathology requests reviewed?
The review process depends on the testing pathway selected.
Baseline Health Check
The Baseline Health Check follows Vively's Medicare-supported pathway.
As part of this process, the requested pathology panel is independently reviewed by the consulting doctor before a pathology request is issued. The consulting doctor exercises their own independent clinical judgement and may modify the requested panel where clinically appropriate.
If any changes are made, these will be reflected in the final pathology request.
Private-pay pathology
Private-pay pathology requests do not require review by the consulting doctor.
The biomarkers selected by the practitioner form the pathology request and are processed through the private-pay testing pathway.
