The Baseline Health Check is Vively's Medicare-supported pathology pathway.

It is available for clients who hold a valid Australian Medicare card through Vively's Medicare-supported pathology pathway. Clients who do not hold a valid Australian Medicare card can still access the Baseline Health Check through Vively's private-pay pathway.

The Baseline Health Check provides practitioners with a streamlined way to request comprehensive baseline pathology, while retaining the flexibility to add additional private-pay biomarkers where appropriate.

Many practitioners use the Baseline Health Check as the foundation of a pathology request before adding additional private-pay biomarkers tailored to their client's presentation.

Vively coordinates the testing pathway from referral through to results delivery, making the process simple for both practitioners and clients.

How does the Baseline Health Check work?

The process is straightforward.

  1. You initiate a referral through the Vively Practitioner Platform.

  2. Vively coordinates the testing pathway and administrative process.

  3. For clients using the Medicare-supported pathway, the consulting doctor independently reviews the requested Baseline Health Check.

  4. Where appropriate, the consulting doctor issues the pathology request.

  5. Your client attends a participating collection centre for their blood test.

  6. The laboratory processes the sample.

  7. Results are securely delivered to both your Practitioner Dashboard and your client's Vively app.

  8. You review the results with your client and determine any appropriate clinical recommendations.

Why practitioners use the Baseline Health Check

Many practitioners choose the Baseline Health Check because it provides a simple, streamlined and cost-effective way to establish a comprehensive health baseline for most clients through Vively's Medicare-supported pathology pathway.

Rather than coordinating multiple steps themselves, practitioners can initiate the process through the Vively Practitioner Platform and Vively coordinates the testing pathway from there.

For many practices, this means less administration and greater visibility throughout the testing journey, while still allowing practitioners to focus on what matters most—providing personalised clinical care.

Practitioners commonly choose the Baseline Health Check because it:

  • provides a comprehensive baseline across more than 70 biomarkers

  • offers a cost-effective starting point for most clients through Vively's Medicare-supported pathology pathway

  • reduces the administrative burden of coordinating the testing process

  • keeps practitioners informed throughout the client's testing journey via the Practitioner Dashboard

  • allows additional private-pay biomarkers to be added where clinically appropriate

  • delivers results directly into both the Practitioner Dashboard and the client's Vively app, making follow-up consultations simpler and more efficient.

Many practitioners use the Baseline Health Check as the foundation of a pathology request before adding targeted private-pay biomarkers tailored to their client's individual presentation.

One referral. Two testing pathways.

One of the key benefits of the Vively Practitioner Platform is that you can combine the Baseline Health Check with additional private-pay biomarkers within a single referral.

Many practitioners use this approach by:

  • selecting the Baseline Health Check as the starting point

  • adding individual private-pay biomarkers relevant to the client's presentation

  • creating a personalised pathology request without needing separate referrals.

Where private-pay biomarkers are added, any applicable client contribution is clearly presented before testing proceeds.

What is Vively's role?

Vively provides the technology platform and coordinates the testing pathway.

This includes:

  • providing the Practitioner Platform

  • coordinating the referral workflow

  • communicating with clients throughout the testing process

  • facilitating pathology collection

  • securely delivering results through the platform

  • providing practitioner tools to review and monitor results over time.

The fee paid to Vively is for providing and operating the platform and coordinating the testing pathway. It is not a fee for Medicare-funded pathology services or for the consulting doctor's independent clinical review.

What is the consulting doctor's role?

The Baseline Health Check follows Vively's Medicare-supported pathology pathway.

As part of this pathway, the consulting doctor independently reviews the requested Baseline Health Check before determining the final pathology request.

The consulting doctor exercises their own independent clinical judgement and may modify the requested pathology panel where clinically appropriate. Where changes are made, these will be reflected in the final pathology request.

Private-pay pathology requests do not require consulting doctor review. Where a practitioner requests private-pay biomarkers outside the Baseline Health Check, those biomarkers are processed through the private-pay testing pathway.

What is the treating practitioner's role?

The treating practitioner remains responsible for their client's ongoing care.

This includes:

  • determining whether pathology testing is appropriate

  • selecting the requested pathology bundle and any additional biomarkers

  • reviewing pathology results

  • interpreting results within the context of the client's history and presentation

  • developing treatment recommendations

  • monitoring progress over time.

Can I customise the Baseline Health Check?

Yes.

Many practitioners begin with the Baseline Health Check before adding additional private-pay biomarkers tailored to their client's clinical presentation.

Who decides which pathology tests are ultimately requested?

For the Baseline Health Check, the consulting doctor independently determines the final pathology request using their own clinical judgement.

Private-pay biomarkers selected outside the Baseline Health Check follow the private-pay testing pathway.

Is Vively providing medical advice?

No.

Vively provides the technology platform and coordinates the testing pathway.

Clinical decisions regarding the Baseline Health Check remain the responsibility of the consulting doctor, while interpretation of pathology results and ongoing clinical management remain the responsibility of the treating practitioner.
