The Vively Practitioner Platform gives you flexibility in how referrals are paid for.
When creating a referral, you can choose whether the client pays or the practice pays.
This applies across the products and services available through the Vively
Practitioner Platform, including pathology testing, Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) and other health assessments as they become available.
This flexibility allows you to tailor billing to suit your business model and the way you deliver care.
Option 1: Client Pays
If you choose Client Pays, your client receives a secure referral link where they can:
review the referral
complete payment (where applicable)
create their Vively account
provide any required information and consent.
Once these steps have been completed, the referral progresses through the testing pathway.
Many practitioners choose this option when testing or health services are billed separately from their consultation fees.
Option 2: Practice Pays
If you choose Practice Pays, the applicable referral costs are billed directly to your practice.
Your client is not asked to make payment through the Vively platform.
Many practitioners choose this option when testing is included as part of a broader health programme, membership or package.
This allows practices to bundle Vively services into their own offering while providing a seamless experience for their clients.
Can I choose a different billing option for each referral?
Yes.
The billing option is selected for each individual referral.
This gives you the flexibility to choose the most appropriate billing method for each client, programme or service you provide.
What products and services does this apply to?
The selected billing option applies to referrals made through the Vively Practitioner Platform.
This includes services such as:
pathology testing
Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM)
and other products and services available through the platform from time to time.
As Vively continues to expand its catalogue, the same billing workflow will apply across supported referrals.
Does this affect the Baseline Health Check?
No.
The selected billing option determines who pays any applicable fees through the Vively platform.
Where a referral includes the Baseline Health Check, the Medicare-supported pathway (for eligible clients) continues to operate in the usual way.
Clients who are not eligible for the Medicare-supported pathway can still access the Baseline Health Check through the private-pay pathway.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the billing option after sending a referral?
No.
Once a referral has been submitted, the billing option cannot be changed.
If the incorrect billing option has been selected, please contact our Practitioner Support team as soon as possible.
Which billing option should I choose?
That depends on your practice model.
Practitioners choose Client Pays when testing or health services are billed separately.
Others choose Practice Pays when Vively services are included within a consultation package, membership or health programme.
The Vively Practitioner Platform supports both approaches.
Will my client see the pricing?
If Client Pays is selected, your client will see any applicable charges before completing payment.
If Practice Pays is selected, your client is not asked to make payment through the Vively platform.
How does payment work when I select Practice Pays?
When Practice Pays is selected, the applicable charges are processed using your practice's nominated payment method.
Your client is not asked to make payment through the Vively platform.
This allows you to include Vively products and services within your own programmes or consultation fees while managing the billing directly through your practice.
