Scanning your sensor can give you an incredible amount of data to help you on your health journey.

Today we'll cover:

How to scan your sensor

The sensor is scanned with your mobile phone.

Steps:

  1. Open your FreeStyle Libre app

  2. Select the icon on the top right corner of the app’s main screen

  3. Hold the back of the smartphone near the sensor

    • Apple: Scan the sensor using the top of your phone

    • Android: Scan the sensor using the back of your phone

Which phones are compatible?

The key requirement is built-in NFC technology.

    • Samsung Galaxy S6

    • Samsung Flip Z & Flip Z2

    • Samsung Galaxy A10S

When and how often should I scan?

This is up to you! However, the FreeStyle Libre sensor only holds eight hours of data. So aim to scan at least every 8 hours otherwise you'll lose your data.

We recommend scanning when you wake up, before bed, and a few times throughout the day to get an accurate picture of your glucose levels. Make sure your push notifications are on so you don’t forget to scan!

There is no maximum limit to how often you want to scan though, so feel free to do it more often if you'd like to. Your glucose response will be ready around 2 hours after logging the meal and scanning, and you can set the app to send you a reminder when your results are ready.

Why it's important

Scanning frequently is important as it gives you a better picture of your glucose levels throughout the day. This data contributes to your Wellness Score and also can help you to identify current trends in the data and what types of food and exercise suit you best!
