No, CGM sensors are water-resistant, but not fully waterproof.

This means they can handle limited water exposure but should not be submerged for extended periods.

Can I Wear My CGM Sensor in Water?

βœ… Safe for:

  • Showering 🚿

  • Bathing πŸ›

⚠️ Use with caution for:

  • Swimming – The manufacturer advises against swimming for more than 30 minutes or at depths greater than 1 meter (3 feet).

  • Saltwater & chlorinated water – Prolonged exposure may weaken the sensor adhesive.

❌ Not recommended for:

  • Extended swimming or water sports – There is a high chance of the sensor becoming loose or falling off.

πŸ’‘ Vively Recommendation: We advise against wearing your CGM while swimming, as there is an increased risk of detachment.

How to Protect Your Sensor in Water

To help keep your sensor secure:
βœ”οΈ Use waterproof tape or an adhesive patch over the sensor for extra protection.
βœ”οΈ Gently pat dry after water exposureβ€”avoid rubbing or excessive movement.

Final Thoughts

While CGM sensors can withstand light water exposure, prolonged submersion may lead to sensor detachment or inaccurate readings. If you plan on swimming, consider using extra adhesive or removing the sensor temporarily to prevent issues.
