When you apply a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) sensor, it requires a warm-up period before it starts providing accurate readings. Here’s what you need to know about the calibration process.

1. How Long Does Calibration Take?

  • Freestyle Libre 2 CGM sensors require a 60-minute (1-hour) warm-up period after application.

  • During this time, the sensor is adjusting to your body and preparing to provide glucose readings.

  • You won’t see any glucose data in the Vively app until the calibration period is complete.

2. Why Does the Sensor Need Time to Calibrate?

When first applied, the sensor filament interacts with the interstitial fluid under your skin. The calibration time allows the sensor to:
✅ Stabilise and ensure accurate readings
✅ Adjust to your body’s glucose levels
✅ Start transmitting reliable data to the app

3. How Can I Tell When Calibration is Complete?

  • After 1 hour, your CGM will begin displaying glucose readings in both the Libre and Vively apps.

  • If you are not seeing data after 60 minutes, try:
    🔄 Restarting your smartphone
📡 Checking that Bluetooth is enabled and connected
🔍 Ensuring your CGM is properly adhered to your skin

4. Are Readings Accurate Immediately After Calibration?

  • While the sensor starts providing data after 1 hour, readings may be slightly less accurate in the first 24 hours.

  • It’s normal to see small fluctuations early on as your sensor adjusts.

📌 Tip: If you notice unusual readings during the first day, allow the sensor more time to stabilise before making any major changes based on the data.

By understanding the calibration process, you can ensure your CGM is working optimally and providing the most accurate glucose insights for your health journey! 🚀
