Explore Report Templates: Faster Insights, Smarter Reporting!

Building high-quality reports shouldn’t require starting from scratch every time.

With the introduction of Explore Report Templates in our Media Seller Experience, Media Owners now have a faster, more intuitive way to generate meaningful insights without sacrificing flexibility or control.

A Smarter Starting Point for Every Report

Explore Templates are designed to streamline report creation by offering pre-configured frameworks tailored to common analytical needs.

Instead of manually selecting sorts, measures, column types, and time periods, users can start with a template that’s already optimized for a specific outcome.

Whether you're identifying new revenue opportunities or analyzing advertiser behavior, Explore Templates help you get there faster.

What Are Explore Templates?

Explore Templates are ready-to-use report setups that include:

  • Predefined layouts

  • Selected measures and metrics

  • Sorting and ranking logic

  • Relevant time periods

Each template is built around our most commonly run reports within Explore:

Zero Share: Identify advertisers investing with competitors but not with your properties.

Advertiser Media Mix: Understand how advertisers allocate spend across media types.

Advertiser Trend: Track spend over time and identify growth or decline.

Advertiser Share: Evaluate how advertiser budgets are distributed across competing properties.

TV / CTV Schedule: Export detailed TV and streaming schedules with placement-level insights.

These standardized workflows ensure users can quickly access high-value insights without needing to build reports from scratch.

How to Use Explore Templates

Step 1

Click Explore, located on the left-side menu, then choose Create New Report.

Step 2: Select a Template

On the Profile Tab, select your report from a set of visually presented template cards.

Each template card includes:

  • Report Name

  • A short, outcome-focused description

  • An icon for quick recognition

Templates are only shown when creating new reports, ensuring existing reports remain unchanged.

Step 3: Review Template Details

Once you select a template, you’ll enter the Template Details View, where you can preview and apply the template.

What You’ll See

  1. Template description and purpose

  2. Layout preview

  3. Default report settings (Sorts, Measures, Time period)

Step 4: Chose a Template Action

Option A: Run

Generates the report immediately using the template defaults.

  • The Run option is available only when required profile criteria are met.

Option B: Configure

Apply the template’s defaults and customize further.

In the Layout Tab, you can adjust your sorts, add additional measures, and refine your ranking.

You can also refine your time period in the Time Periods Tab.

This dual approach of Run and Configure allows you to tailor the report to your exact needs and gives you the best of both worlds: speed and flexibility.

Template Behavior and Requirements

Run Availability (Gating)

Some templates (e.g., Media Mix and Trend) require specific profile selections before you can run them.

If requirements are not met:

  • The Run button will not be available

  • You will see guidance on what to add to your profile

Examples of required profile elements:

  • My Accounts

  • Prospects

  • Categories

  • Competitive Properties

Availability Indicators

Templates that require additional data or selections may appear greyed out or non-clickable.

Hover over the Info icon on the greyed-out template to show an explanation on the elements needed to unlock the template.

This ensures reports are always relevant, accurate, and performant.

Seamless Report Validation

To keep reports organized, users are prompted to name their report before running it if it’s still labeled “Untitled Report.”

This simple step helps ensure clarity and consistency across saved reports.
