Voicepaper Android Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 5, 2026

Voicepaper for Android ("the app") is provided by Lemon App LLC. This policy explains what information the Android app handles and why. For questions, use the in-app support or email umekun123@gmail.com.

Your reading content

Text you import, playlists, reading positions, bookmarks, markers and settings are stored on your device. Playback with the device voice, audio file creation with the device voice, and text recognition run on your device, and this content is not sent to Voicepaper's servers or analytics services. If Android backup or device transfer is turned on, supported data is backed up and restored according to your Android and Google Account settings. You can delete texts in the app; items in Trash stay on your device until you delete them permanently. Uninstalling the app removes the data stored on your device.

AI features

When you use AI Voice or AI Translation, the text needed for processing (for AI Translation, also the title) is sent through Voicepaper's server to OpenAI or xAI. Voicepaper's server does not store the text, the translation or the generated audio; it records usage such as the credits used. See the AI Feature Privacy Policy for details.

Importing from other services and the web

When you connect Dropbox, Instapaper or Evernote, or import a web article or a text from Aozora Bunko, the app communicates directly with that service or website to retrieve what you choose. Sign-in information for connected services is stored encrypted on your device. These services handle your data under their own policies.

Purchases

Voicepaper Plus and Voicepaper AI are purchased and paid for through Google Play. To unlock features and manage AI credits, the app sends purchase information, such as the product and the purchase token, to Voicepaper's server, which verifies it with Google Play. The server keeps a record of the subscription status, the Google Play order ID, the AI credits used and a one-way hash of the purchase account ID. The app and Voicepaper's server never receive your payment card details.

Analytics and error reports

To improve the app, we use Mixpanel for usage analytics and Sentry for crash and error reports. They receive app interactions (for example, which screens and features are used), the app and OS versions, the device model and other device information, diagnostics, and a random installation ID created by the app. This data is sent automatically while you use the app. It does not include your text, titles, web addresses, file names, search terms, email address or purchase tokens; purchase events include a one-way hash of the purchase so that the same purchase is not counted twice. We do not use your IP address to estimate your location for analytics.

Support

In-app help and feedback use Intercom. When you open help or send feedback, the app registers you as an anonymous Intercom user and sends the app version, OS version, device model, language and plan status. The messages, contact details and attachments you choose to send are used to answer you. If notifications are allowed for the app (on Android 12 and earlier they are allowed unless you turn them off), a Firebase Cloud Messaging token is registered with Intercom so that you can receive replies. You can turn notifications off in Android settings.

Other services

  • Google ML Kit performs text recognition and language identification on your device. Google may collect technical information such as device details, performance and errors; see Google's ML Kit data disclosure.

  • Help videos and AI voice samples are downloaded from Voicepaper's content server. As with any download, your IP address and basic app information reach that server.

  • The model for recognizing vertical Japanese text is downloaded from GitHub the first time you use that feature.

  • Google Play provides in-app updates and in-app reviews.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information, show ads or use the advertising ID. The app does not access your location, contacts or messages. There is no Voicepaper account to create.

Retention and deletion

  • Data on your device can be deleted in the app or by uninstalling the app.

  • Subscription status, access rights and AI credit records are kept to restore purchases, prevent duplicate use, verify subscriptions and answer support requests. They are not deleted automatically after a fixed period, and cancelling a subscription does not delete them.

  • Analytics, error reports and support conversations are kept by Mixpanel, Sentry and Intercom for analysis, troubleshooting and support. The app has no function that deletes these records together.

  • For questions about your data, including deletion, contact us in the app or at umekun123@gmail.com. We will identify the records concerned and explain what can be deleted and what must be kept.

Subscriptions

Prices, periods, usage limits and any free trial are shown on the purchase screen. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. To cancel, open Subscriptions in Google Play with the Google Account used for the purchase; uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. You can usually keep using a subscription until the end of the paid period after cancelling. Refunds follow Google Play's policies and applicable law. Voicepaper Plus and Voicepaper AI are separate subscriptions, and an AI plan requires an active Plus subscription.

Changes

When this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
