Do I need a DUPR account before I play? No. You can play the assessment first and link (or create) your DUPR account afterward. Linking is what turns your score into an official rating.
How long does the assessment take? About 10 minutes on court: 6 rounds of Point Play (14 balls each) plus 5 serves.
How will I know when my rating is ready? Volley sends you a push notification and an email when your results are ready to review.
I've never had a DUPR rating — is this for me? Yes. The assessment is designed for players in roughly the 2.0–4.0 range, and it's a great way to get your first official rating without needing to play rated matches.
Can I retake it? Yes, as many times as you like. Nothing becomes official until you submit, so you can keep practicing — then submit your best result.
Can I change my rating after I submit? No. Submitting is final and one-time — you can only submit one result and you can't send an updated score later, so pick your best result before you submit.
I already have a DUPR rating — can I still do this? Yes, but your results won't be submitted to DUPR or change your official rating. It's a private benchmark to see where your game stands.
What do the difficulty levels mean? Your level sets how hard the assessment is and the highest rating it can produce — Beginner caps at 3.5, Intermediate at 4.25. If unsure, start easier; you can retake higher and submit the better score.
What is the trainer scoring? It records your play on video and evaluates shot selection, placement, power, consistency, and movement around the court.
How do I connect to the trainer? Power it on with the green button at the rear, then enter the 4-digit number printed on the side of the trainer.
What if I miss a serve? No penalty. You get about 10 seconds between serves.
