Browse and claim missions

So you are up and running and ready to start taking on missions? Here we cover how to do so.

Written by Ash

Welcome to the world of Volunteero, your journey to volunteering starts here!

Developed in collaboration with volunteers, our easy-to-use app allows you to browse and claim volunteering missions whilst keeping in touch with your organisation, all in one place!

Use the links below to jump to the section you'd like to learn about.

Shifts

At the top of the 'Home' tab, you will see 'Shifts'. Here you can see your nearest upcoming shifts at a glance. If you click into 'View all >', you will be able to see all upcoming shifts. You can view this as a list, or if you click 'Calendar' you will be able to view as a monthly calendar. Days with a dot under will show you which days you have a shift.

Missions

This tab shows all the missions you’ve claimed and been approved for. You may also see missions your charity has directly assigned to you here.

If you see 'Awaiting approval' highlighted in orange, this means you have requested to join that mission and need to wait for you organisation to grant access.

Explore

Under here you will see other mission types from your organisation. If you click into these, you will be able to read the mission descriptions of each mission and join/request to join them. At the bottom of the mission screen, you’ll see two options:

  • Join: Instantly secure your spot on the mission! Once joined, the mission will appear under Missions.

  • Request to Join: Sends a request to your charity for approval. While waiting, the mission will stay in your Pending tab. Once approved, you’ll get a notification, and the mission will move to your Ongoing tab.

If you have any questions about your approval status, please reach out directly to your charity.

Browsing Missions

When browsing missions, you’ll see a clear overview of all the key details you need to decide whether a mission is right for you. Here’s what each section means:

  • Mission Type: Displayed at the top, this shows what kind of task or activity you’ll be doing.

  • Client: The bold text in the middle shows who or what the mission is for; this could be an individual, the charity itself, or something else, depending on the nature of the volunteering task.

Note: In your Customisation settings, you can choose to rearrange the client to be at the top with the mission type below.

  • Next Shift: If shifts are enabled and you have one booked, you’ll see your upcoming shift here.

  • Last Report: Displays the date of the last report you submitted for that mission.

  • Location: Shows where the mission takes place. If you don’t see a distance displayed, make sure your location services are enabled (see our App Settings article for help).

This layout makes it easy to find all the information you need at a glance.

Being assigned to a mission

Sometimes, your charity may assign you directly to a mission. When this happens, you’ll receive a notification, either by email or as a push notification, to let you know. The mission will then appear in your Ongoing tab.

If you have any questions about a mission you’ve been assigned to, please reach out to your charity for more details.
