Developed in collaboration with volunteers, our easy-to-use app allows you to browse and claim volunteering missions whilst keeping in touch with your organisation, all in one place!

Ongoing, Available, and Pending tabs
When you open the app, you’ll see three tabs at the top of your screen. Here’s what each one does:
Ongoing: This tab shows all the missions you’ve claimed and been approved for. You may also see missions your charity has directly assigned to you here.
Available: Browse missions available to you. You can filter and search to find the right fit. All available missions are created and managed by your charity, so reach out to them if you have any questions.
Pending: Any missions you’ve requested to join but are waiting for approval from your charity will appear here.
Browsing Missions
When browsing missions, you’ll see a clear overview of all the key details you need to decide whether a mission is right for you. Here’s what each section means:
Mission Type: Displayed at the top, this shows what kind of task or activity you’ll be doing.
Organisation Name: Found just below the mission type, this tells you which organisation you’ll be volunteering with.
Client: The bold text in the middle shows who or what the mission is for; this could be an individual, the charity itself, or something else, depending on the nature of the volunteering task.
Next Shift: If shifts are enabled and you have one booked, you’ll see your upcoming shift here.
Last Report: Displays the date of the last report you submitted for that mission.
Location: Shows where the mission takes place. If you don’t see a distance displayed, make sure your location services are enabled (see our App Settings article for help).
Start and End Date: If the mission has specific dates, they’ll be listed here. Some missions are open-ended and won’t have set start or end dates.
This layout makes it easy to find all the information you need at a glance.
Search and filter missions
At the very top of the Volunteero app, you’ll find the ‘Search missions’ bar. Simply tap it to quickly find a specific mission by name or keyword. You can also refine your view by selecting the filter toggle next to the search bar, allowing you to sort and narrow your mission list to exactly what you’re looking for.
You can sort by:
Priority: Sort missions by their priority level: low, normal, or high. Only high-priority missions will display a priority badge on the mission card.
Starting Date: Sort by the mission’s start date (note: this is not the same as the shift date).
Last Reported: Organise missions based on when you last submitted a report.
Newest: See the most recently added missions first.
Nearest: View missions closest to your current location. Make sure location services are enabled. Check out our App Settings article to learn how to do this.
You can also filter your missions to narrow down your search:
Start Date: View missions that begin within a specific time period. (Note: this refers to the mission’s start date, not the start date of an individual shift.)
Mission Type: Filter by the type of activity or task, which are set by the organisation you volunteer with.
Organisation: If you volunteer with multiple organisations, you can filter missions to view those from a specific one.
Accepting or Requesting Approval for a Mission
To join a mission, head to the ‘Available’ tab. This is where you’ll find all the missions you can get involved in.
Tap on a mission to view more details, including:
Details: A full mission description outlining what’s involved and what’s expected of you.
Time and Location: If the mission is onsite, you’ll see its general location here. Once you’ve officially joined the mission or have been approved, the full address will be visible. You can also view any schedule details here.
Shifts: If the mission has shifts enabled, tap into this section to view available time slots and claim a shift to join the mission.
At the bottom of the mission screen, you’ll see two options:
Join: Instantly secure your spot on the mission! Once joined, the mission will appear in your Ongoing tab.
Request to Join: Sends a request to your charity for approval. While waiting, the mission will stay in your Pending tab. Once approved, you’ll get a notification, and the mission will move to your Ongoing tab.
If you have any questions about your approval status, please reach out directly to your charity.
Being assigned to a mission
Sometimes, your charity may assign you directly to a mission. When this happens, you’ll receive a notification, either by email or as a push notification, to let you know. The mission will then appear in your Ongoing tab.
