If you’ve created a custom report template and noticed that the questions you’re asking about volunteer time or volunteer call time aren’t showing in your Insights section, here’s how to fix it:
Open your custom report template.
Locate the question related to volunteer time or call duration.
Click Edit.
Make sure the data link is correctly connected to Volunteer Time or Call Time.
Please note: To ensure your reporting works seamlessly and that you can award badges based on volunteer activity:
Always template your “Volunteer Time” and “Call Duration” questions in your question bank.
Reuse these templated questions across all (or most) of your report templates.
This consistency allows the system to plot the data correctly and display it in Insights.
⚠️ Updating the data link will not backfill links for past reports, it only applies moving forward once corrected.
Now go to your insights section and create a dashboard, here is an article on how to set up a custom insights dashboard.
You can visualise your volunteering time here using the Volunteering Time chart. Alternatively, you can use your templated question(s) by opening the Mission Reports chart and selecting the specific question linked to volunteering time.
The Volunteering Time chart shows the total hours submitted to a question linked to volunteering time, while the Question chart displays the hours submitted to that specific question. To ensure consistency (unlike the example shown), be sure to reuse your templated volunteering time question across all report templates. This will serve as your primary volunteering time question and will also be useful if you want to automate badges based on responses to that question.
