“The badges are a great way of valuing a volunteer’s contribution to an organisation. It’s that little dopamine hit that one gets when you receive something positive, unexpectedly, which is both enjoyable and motivating. We try and use badges, where appropriate, as much as possible to say that we appreciate volunteers and value their input." Amanda- Healthwatch North Tyneside

We've gathered some of our most favourite badges examples from across our organisations. So please keep scrolling, take some inspiration and spread the badges love in 2024!

  • Volunteero usage celebration

  • Volunteer hours

  • Length of service

“We decided that badges work particularly well for our task volunteers. This set of volunteers are more lone working, meeting different clients each time they support. I feel it has been a great way to boost morale, and have created badges for 'first mission completion', '10 hour time given', '1 year service' etc.” Holly Bridges for Communities.

  • Event specific

  • Training and learning awards

“ The Badges feature is a great mix of informative and fun – our volunteers really appreciate being able to see their achievements such as years of service, awards they’ve been given, training they’ve done, and staff enjoy being creative with the little pictures for each badge.” Dara RAF Museum

  • Social media champions

  • Helping hand

  • Positive feedback

“Our entire team operates remotely, so we’re keen to do what we can to facilitate engagement with and among our volunteers and make sure they know they’re part of something. The automation means I can mark those early milestones that might not seem like a big deal, but do make a difference to how a new volunteer feels about their experience and their desire to carry on.” Georgina Everett - Re-Engage

  • Long service award

  • Volunteer of the month/ year

  • King/ queen of the chat

“I felt appreciated and grateful. It made me laugh getting it.” Volunteer

  • Number of events

  • Milage distance for driving roles

  • Braved the weather

“Badges are a quick and simple way to recognize our volunteers for simple things that make a big difference. For instance, I have Snow Storm Hero and Rainy Day Hero badge I send out to volunteers who’ve braved our New England weather to complete their mission. I see it as an easy way to say “I see you and appreciate what you’re doing on a day-to-day basis” Jen - Rhode Island Blood Centre

  • Persistence

  • Fundraising amounts

  • Environmental award

“Hi, I must say am loving the new badges awards. A great way of expressing thanks to the volunteers and being able to offer additional awards for always going that extra mile 😊” Caroline- Age UK Northamptonshire
