Notifications overview

You can manage all of your own notifications within your Volunteero app.

Firstly, head to the profile tab on your app, click account and then select notifications.

Here you can switch on/ off a range of notification preferences which can be sent either to your device on a push notification or via email.

When you first download the app you will be opted into most of these notifications so please do go into this section to decide which ones you want to receive.

If you are using Volunteero on a smartphone you may be asked to enable notifications on your phone's settings as well.

At any stage you can update your notifications to increase or reduce notifications from Volunteero.

Types of Notifications

You can choose to get either app or email notifications for the following actions:

  • When you are assigned to a mission

  • When you have been assigned or removed from a shift

  • When there are new missions are available

    • This can be set to Daily or Weekly by the volunteer.

    • When set to daily, this will go out at some point during the day, not straight after the creation of a mission. This is done as you might create multiple missions at the same time.

  • When you have been inactive with an ongoing mission

Chat email summary notification

You can choose to opt into email summaries when there are new chats available in Volunteero.

This is useful if you primarily use Volunteero on a desktop browser rather than a smartphone.

To opt into these email summaries head to your notification preferences on your Volunteero app account and enable the chat summary email.

Chat Notifications

Mute any chat notifications by clicking into the relevant chat and selecting the settings cog at the top right. You can choose to mute or hide any chats.

These can be undone at any stage.

N.B. It is worth mentioning to your volunteer coordinator that you are muting or hiding a chat, as they won't get notified that you have done so and may be trying to contact you on a muted/ hidden chat.

Just so you know, your organisation is responsible for creating and setting up the frequency of most notifications within Volunteero, so if you feel the frequency is too high or you are receiving too many notifications please speak to your designated contact at your organisation.

We hope you found this article helpful, if you have any questions about notifications please speak with your volunteer co-ordinator.

If you face any technical difficulties with your notifications then you can reach a member of our team within the support page on your Volunteero app.
