How to Edit a Video on VSCO

VSCO offers a range of video editing tools to enhance your creative work, available exclusively with a VSCO Membership on both iOS and Android. Whether you're adjusting the length, changing the volume, or applying artistic effects, this guide will walk you through each function, helping you to edit videos that match your vision.

VSCO Video Editing Tools

Photos and videos share many attributes, but only video contains the aspects of time and audio. To adjust these aspects, there are a few extra tools in the editor when a video is loaded:

Trim - adjust the start and endpoints of the video to remove parts that aren't needed.

Volume - adjust the volume of the audio attached to the video

FX- Add special video effects (Original, VHS, Glitch, Kaleido, and Chroma)

Reverse- Create a reverse video by selecting a specific frame range.

Speed- Speed up or slow down the video.

Mirror- Will flip video frames to create a mirror video.

In addition to these, most of the same tools that are available for photos are also available for videos:

How to Edit a Video on VSCO

  1. Import a video into your Studio using the Import icon (+).

  2. Select the video you want to import and tap Edit Video.

  3. You will then be brought into the editor where you can apply most presets and toolkit edits, just like with photos

  4. Once finished you can Save as a Draft, Save to your Camera Roll, or Publish to VSCO.

Supported Video Resolutions and Formats

iOS

We support all video resolutions and frame rates captured from the native iOS camera. This includes all formats between the highest setting of 4k at 60 fps and the lowest setting of 720p HD at 30 fps and both slow-motion options of 1080p HD at 120 fps and 1080 HD at 240 fps.

Your video resolution will export the same size as the imported video (i.e. If importing a 4k resolution video, it will export in 4k resolution as well), however there may be a slight reduction in file size.

Android

We support videos that are natively captured in 1080p, 720p at 30 and 60 FPS.

DSLR / Mirrorless or any other non-mobile video source

You can import up to 4k video resolution. Please note that some video formats and codecs may not be supported at this time.

FAQs

Why are some tools missing from the video editor compared to the photo editor?

Not all tools available for photo editing will be made available for video editing. This includes the clarity, perspective correction, grain, and borders tools.

Why am I receiving an error when trying to post my video to VSCO?

We’re sorry for the error you’ve encountered while posting your video to VSCO. First, ensure that both your VSCO app and your device’s operating system are updated to the latest versions, and try posting the video again.

If the issue persists, please check that your video meets the following requirements:

  • The video resolution must be between 360 x 360px and 1080p.

  • The file size should be between 1KB and 1GB.

  • The video length must be 1 minute or less.

Can I edit a video on VSCO Studio on Web?

At this time video editing is not available on VSCO Studio on Web.

Why are some video editing features not available on Android?

Due to limitations of certain devices CPU/GPU and installed Codecs, certain video editing tools ie. (video speed adjustment tool), but not limited to, will not be available for editing videos. This can vary by manufacturer.
