How to set-up Opt-Out feature in WABB

Updated over a week ago

Opt-out is a way to let your users tell you they don’t want to receive your messages anymore. It’s a small but important feature that helps you stay user-friendly and keeps your WhatsApp number safe from being reported or blocked.

When people can easily opt out, they’re less likely to mark your messages as spam, which means your number reputation stays strong.

Why Opt-Out Matters

Adding an opt-out option:

  • Keeps your broadcasts clean and compliant.

  • Prevents spam complaints or number bans.

  • Shows you respect your users’ choices.

  • Builds trust and improves your overall brand image.

How to Set Up Opt-Out

You can set up an opt-out feature in two ways — using buttons or keywords.

Method 1: Using Buttons

Step 1:

In your message, add a button named something like “Stop”, “Unsubscribe”, or “Not Interested.”

Step 2:

When users click the button, tag them with something like “not-interested-leads.”

This tag helps you easily identify and remove them from future broadcasts.

Method 2: Using Keywords

Step 1:

Ask users to reply with a specific word to opt out.

Example:

🎉 Exclusive Offer Just for You, {first name}!

🎉 Get 20% off your next purchase!

🛍 Use code SAVE20 at checkout. Don’t miss out!

⏰ Reply STOP to opt out.

Step 2:

Create a new flow named “Opt-out.”

Step 3:

Add an Action Block → Add Tag, and name the tag (like “not-interested-leads”).

Step 4:

Go to Automation → Create New Keyword.

Give it a name (like “Opt-out”) and add keywords such as STOP, REMOVE, or NOT INTERESTED.

That’s it! Anyone replying with these keywords will be tagged automatically.

How to Find Opt-Out Users

  1. Go to ContactsGeneral FilterTag.

  2. Select the opt-out tag you used earlier.

Now, you’ll see all users who opted out.

How to Exclude Opt-Out Users from Broadcasts

  1. Go to BroadcastsCreate New Broadcast.

  2. Under Targeting, click Filters → Tags.

  3. Select the condition “is not” and choose the opt-out tag (like “not-interested-leads”).

This makes sure you don’t send broadcasts to users who opted out.

Why Opt-Out Is Important

  • It helps you comply with WhatsApp’s messaging policies.

  • Prevents your number from being reported or blocked.

  • Builds trust and transparency with your audience.

  • Keeps your communication clean and targeted.
