Connect to Official API using a new number

Connect a new number to move or migrate to WABB from another BSP following the below steps

This guide helps you connect a new WhatsApp number to WABB or move your existing number from another BSP (like WATI, AiSensy, MessageBird) to WABB using Metaโ€™s official setup.

Before You Start

Make sure of the following:

  • You have access to your Facebook Business Manager

  • Your business verification is completed

  • You have admin access to the account

  • A payment method is added in Meta

If you are connecting a new number:

  • The number should not be registered on any WhatsApp app (personal or business)

If you are migrating from another BSP:

  • You must have access to the current provider to delete/deactivate your current connection.


Step-by-Step: Connect or Migrate Number

Step 1: Go to Connection Settings

  • Open your WABB dashboard

  • Go to Settings

  • Open Connection tab

  • Click Move your number to WABB

  • Click Continue

Step 2: Confirm Number Status

If you are using a new number:

  • Ensure no WhatsApp account exists on it

  • Chat history will not be available

Click Continue

Step 3: Login to Facebook Business Manager

  • You will be redirected to Meta login

  • Log in with the correct account

  • Click Continue

Step 4: Select Business Account

  • Choose your Business Portfolio

  • Select your WhatsApp Business Account

If you already added a number in Meta:

  • It will appear in the list

  • You can directly select it

If no number is added:

  • Click Create WhatsApp Business Account

Step 5: Create WhatsApp Business Account (if needed)

Fill the required details:

  • Business name

  • Category

  • Country

  • Website

  • Time zone

Click Next

Step 6: Add Phone Number

  • Click Add a new number

  • Select country code

  • Enter phone number

  • Click Next

You will receive an OTP on this number.

  • Enter OTP

  • Verify the number

Step 7: Confirm Connection

  • Select the number (new or existing)

  • Click Confirm

Once done:

  • Your number gets connected to WABB

Click Finish

Step 8: Verify in WABB

  • Go back to Channel Settings

  • You will see your number listed there

You can also check in Meta:

  • Go to WhatsApp Manager โ†’ Partners

  • The number should be assigned to WABB


Payment Setup (Important)

Since this uses Metaโ€™s official API:

  • You are charged per message

  • Payment goes directly to Meta

To add payment method:

  • Go to Payment Settings in Facebook Business Manager

  • Add your credit or debit card

If payment is not added:

  • Messaging will not work


Key Notes

  • Business verification must be approved

  • Account status should be active

  • Payment method must be added

  • Migration does not carry chat history


Common Issues and Fixes

Number Already Registered on WhatsApp
If the number is active on WhatsApp app, connection will fail. Delete the account from WhatsApp before proceeding.

OTP Not Received
Check network or try voice call option. Ensure number is active.

Number Not appearing in List
You have not added it in Meta. Create a new WhatsApp Business Account and add the number.

Payment Not Set
Messages will fail if billing is not configured. Add card in Meta payment settings.


What Happens After Connection

  • Your number is linked to WABB

  • You can create templates

  • You can start sending messages using official API

  • Billing starts as per Meta pricing
