4. How to Test Your Flow on Wabb

Learn how to test your flow on Wabb

Updated this week

In this video, you will learn how to test a flow in Wabb

Before making your flow publicly available in WABB, it's essential to test it to ensure it functions as expected. This tutorial will guide you through methods to test your flow.

There are three main ways to test a flow in WABB:

  1. Preview Mode (inside the Flow Builder)

  2. Testing with a Contact

  3. Testing with Automation (Keywords)

1. Testing in Preview Mode

This is the quickest way to check your flow.

  • In the Flow Builder, click on Preview Mode.

  • You’ll be able to interact with the flow as if you were using WhatsApp.

This method is best for quick checks while building your flow.

2. Testing with a Contact

You can manually run a flow for a specific contact to see how it works in a real conversation.

Step 1: Create or Select a Contact

  • Go to the Contacts section.

  • Add a new contact by entering their name and WhatsApp number.

  • If the contact already exists, just click on their name.

Step 2: Run the Flow

  • On the contact’s page, click the three dots (...) menu.

  • Select Run Flow.

  • Choose the flow you want to test from the list.

Step 3: Check the Flow in Chats

  • Click Go to Chats to see how the messages appear in a live conversation.

This method helps you experience the flow exactly as your users will.

3. Testing with Automation (Keywords)

This method lets you test flows by sending specific keywords from a WhatsApp number.

Step 1: Create a Keyword

  • Go to the Automation menu and click Create New Keyword.

  • Give your keyword a name and select the flow you want to test.

Step 2: Set Conditions

You can define how WABB should recognize the keyword:

  • Is – exact match (e.g., user sends “hello”)

  • Begins with – message starts with the keyword (e.g., “hello team”)

  • Contains – keyword appears anywhere in the message (e.g., “can I say hello?”)

  • Contains whole word – matches only if the keyword appears as a complete word (not as part of another word).

Step 3: Add Keywords

  • Enter the keywords users can send (e.g., “hi”, “hello”, “test”).

💡 Note: Keywords are not case-sensitive (e.g., “Hello” and “hello” are treated the same).

Step 4: Activate Automation

  • Turn on the automation to enable it.

  • Now, send the keyword from a different WhatsApp number to your WABB-connected number.

  • The flow will start automatically.

By testing your flows in Preview Mode, with Contacts, or through Automation, you can make sure everything works smoothly before sharing with your users.

WABB gives you flexible testing options so you can confidently launch flows that provide the right experience.
