See below for a full breakdown of all 2025 Public Surf Session types.
Beginner Surf Session
Your Session:
We’ll make it easy for you to get to your feet and work on your balance to start to get a feel for longer rides. Our beginner wave, The Coaster, will give you plenty of time to learn how to position for take offs, and angle towards the end of the bay.
The Wave:
The Coaster
This small, gentle ground-swell wave provides for an easy rolling take-off. The ride is slow and consistent and allows for plenty of time to work on balance, foot placement, and to begin to understand how to turn your surfboard. The end section closest to the wall, speeds up just slightly, and gives you a chance to ride out on the open face.
This wave gives you two options; a gentle, rolling whitewash on the periphery of the bay, and a knee to thigh high wave on the peak that’s great for progressing from standing up in the whitewash, to starting to ride face waves.

The Details:
Maximum of 15 surfers per session.
30 minutes of rights, 30 minutes of lefts.
Recommended Equipment:
A soft top board rental is included in the price of your beginner session.
Please note: Only soft top boards are permitted in the beginner session.
Intermediate Surf Session
Your Session:
You’ll get tons of reps to push your surfing step-by-step. Our intermediate wave, The Runner, will give you a long, clean wall to work on connecting your turns, and trying some bigger maneuvers knowing you’ve got more rides coming.
The Wave:
The Runner
Open, lined-up faces allow for high performance and high variety. Our three-wave set provides three different waves to play with; wave 1 has a slightly steeper take-off and initial section, allowing for multiple top turns and a full speed end-section; wave 2 provides a slightly longer line for a racier set up for a bigger finishing turn, and wave 3 has a softer take off, but more drained out end section for a little cover up, and wrapping top-turns.

The Details:
Maximum of 12 surfers per session.
30 minutes of rights, 30 minutes of lefts.
Recommended Equipment:
Soft and hard boards are allowed in the Intermediate session. If you’re riding a log, we’d recommend keeping it under 9ft.
Advanced Surf Session
Your Session:
We’ll run four-wave sets to keep you in almost constant motion, with a wave variety that will give you lots of chances to refine your game. Just about everything’s on offer here from head-dips to airs. Push yourself to string together your biggest moves, than paddle back into your next one.
The Wave:
The Peak
This wave gives you the variety and setups you need to push your surfing to the limit. Wave 1 is a steep runner, with a quick take-off and open face perfect for true top to bottom surfing; wave 2 stretches that face out a bit allowing for big wraps and end-section turns at full speed; wave 3 is a slopier take-off allowing you to pump into a steeper end-section for your biggest hacks; wave 4 provides the most stretched out sections for a punchy beach-break-like set up.

The Details:
Maximum of 12 surfers per session.
30 minutes of rights, 30 minutes of lefts.
Recommended Equipment:
High performance boards for a high-performance wave. Grovelers and fun-boards can be a blast, but logs can be a bit sluggish.
Advanced Level Disclaimer:
By selecting the Advanced Session, you are signing up to surf one of the fastest, largest, and most powerful waves we offer to the public. These waves are difficult to ride and catch even for professional surfers. These waves have the power to break boards and seriously injure people. Consistently wiping out and not catching these makes you a danger to yourself and to others in the lineup. If you are deemed by our water patrol to be below the skill level it takes to ride these waves you will be asked to vacate the surf lagoon and we will reschedule you in a session appropriate for your skill level at no cost. We want everyone who rides our waves to have the best and safest possible experience.
