Important Stripe migration considerations
Updated over a week ago

At Walla, we use a system called Stripe Connected accounts for payment processing. This might be different from the Stripe Account you're used to with your current software. If you're given access to a new Stripe account, you are responsible for coordinating the transfer of credit card information.

If you were using a Connected account with your old software, you'll need to get in touch with a representative to start moving credit card details to your new Stripe account. With Walla, you can handle all your payment processing right from the Walla dashboard and you won't need to log in separately to Stripe.

Email requirement and customer data

Your previous software provider must store emails in the customer object in Stripe. Without emails connected to the customer object in Stripe, Walla cannot import your client’s credit cards to your new connected Stripe account.

Coordination responsibilities

If you have access to manage your Stripe account, you are responsible for coordinating access for your Walla Data Migration Rep to login and initiate your credit card migration to the destination account (your new Stripe account). Stripe uses two factor authentication so please plan ahead.

Stripe card migration timeline

Stripe to Stripe migrations typically take about 72 business hours (not including weekends) to complete, which means the above needs to be coordinated about 3 business days prior to your migration date.

Multiple Stripe customer records and card syncing

If there are multiple Stripe customer records linked to the same email, Walla cannot automatically identify the default card for that customer. While Walla brings over all customer records from your Stripe account, only one card will sync with the customer profile in Walla.

Stripe determines the order of the cards as follows:

  • Card 3: The first card imported over is the oldest record in the new Stripe account. (Assuming it's the most recent record in the old Stripe account)

  • Card 2: The middle record.

  • Card 1: The last card to be transferred is the most recent record in the new Stripe account. (Assuming it's the oldest record in the old Stripe account)
