The "Create Ad" feature allows you to create 3 ad types - a single image ad, a carousel ad, and a video ad. Follow these steps to get started.
1. Click on "Create Ad" in your Walled Garden dashboard.
2. Click on the "Build Your Ad" button to open the ad editor.
3. Select a Special Ad Category, only if required.
Most ads won't require a Special Ad Category. However, there are 3 ad types that do require an Ad Category. If your ad is related to one of the following, please select the applicable Ad Category in the ad editor.
Housing - Ads for listings (sale and rent), insurance, mortgages, or other housing-related opportunities.
Employment - Ads for job offers, internships, certification programs, or other employment-related opportunities.
Credit - Ads for credit cards, auto loans, long-term financing or other related opportunities.
4. Name Your Ad
This name will only be seen by you and is your way of identifying this specific ad in the Reports tab.
5. Select your Goal
The "goal" of your ad determines the type of ad that is created, as well as the type of targeting applied. Please review the following options to understand your ad goal:
Generate Leads - Lead generation campaigns allow marketers to generate leads who might be looking to buy your product or services. This ad type creates a Facebook Lead Ad Form that requires leads to provide their contact information before proceeding to your destination URL. This lead information will be routed to your desired locations such as email, phone number, or CRM. Lead generation ads generate lead contact information.
Drive Traffic - Traffic campaigns bring more potential customers to wherever you do business. You can use traffic campaigns when you want to sell a product, educate your audience, and get them interested in your business. Most often used for e-commerce, downloads, blogs, etc. Drive Traffic campaigns will generate clicks, not leads.
Brand Awareness - Brand Awareness ads are used to increase brand awareness, or change brand perception, with an audience most likely to remember your brand. These ads are shown to as many people in your audience as possible. Brand Awareness metrics are based on impressions (how many people saw your ad), not clicks or leads.
6. Choose Your Ad Media
You may upload a variety of media types (.jpg, .png, .mp4, .gif) in 3 formats.
Single Image - Upload 1 image to be shown on your ad.
Multiple Images - This creates a carousel ad where each of your images is shown to your ad audience in a "swipe-right" display.
Video - Upload a video to be automatically played to your audience.
7. Enter The Ad Details
These details are displayed on your ad as text and buttons.
Ad Headline - An attention-grabbing sentence about your ad.
Ad Copy - A few creative sentences that provide more information about your offering.
Call-To-Action Button - A button prompt on the ad that tells the user to take a specified action.
Destination URL Link - The website leads/viewers reach when they click on your ad.
8. Lead Form Details
This only displays if you selected Generate Leads as your goal. If you selected Drive Traffic or Brand Awareness, this step does not apply.
Lead Information Gathered - This is the information your ad will require leads to provide in order to proceed to your destination URL. Please note that Meta allows leads to modify the information provided in order to protect the lead's privacy.
Privacy Policy Link - Privacy Policies are required in order to collect personal contact information from leads and must be hosted on the website of your destination URL. If you do not have a Privacy Policy, there are a number of free Privacy Policy generators available on Google.
9. Ad Preview
A mock-up of how your ad will display on Facebook and Instagram, ad preview provides you with a visual prediction of your ad display. Please note this is not an exact mock-up of your ad. Displays may vary slightly in the Facebook and Instagram news feeds and stories.
10. Ad Budget
Select your budget. Please note, minimum perimeters exist to ensure a successful campaign.
Ad Duration - the number of days you would like your ad to be shown.
Daily Budget - the per-day budget for your ad.
Target Area - select one, or multiple, cities or neighborhoods.
Coverage Area - the mile radius around the center of your selected city or neighborhood.
Page engagement audience - people who have engaged with your Facebook and/or Instagram pages. Engagement is comments, video views, likes, page views, etc.
Custom audience - an uploaded .CSV file of your contact database. Facebook utilizes a Facebook user ID match to find your uploaded contacts.
