Optimizing for Search: How to Update Page SEO Settings

A guide for property managers on how to configure Title Tags, Meta Descriptions, and Keywords for every page to improve search engine visibility and ranking.

Updated this week

Effective SEO (Search Engine Optimization) ensures that potential guests can find your direct booking site through search engines like Google. Each page on your Wander Site—from your Homepage to your individual property listings—can be customized with specific metadata to improve your ranking.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log In: Access your dashboard at app.wander.com.

  2. Navigate to Pages: Click Website in the left sidebar and then select Pages.

  3. Open Settings: Find the specific page you want to optimize. Click the kebab menu (three dots) to the right of the page name and select Settings.

  4. Configure Metadata: You will see three key SEO fields. Fill them in as follows:

    • Title Tag: This is the headline that appears in browser tabs and search results.

      • Recommended Format: Primary Keyword | Brand Name (e.g., "Luxury Cabin Rentals | Alpine Getaways")

    • Meta Description: A concise summary of what is on the page. This serves as your "ad" in search results to entice users to click.

    • Keywords: List relevant search terms separated by commas. Do not use dashes or other symbols. (e.g., "vacation rentals, beachfront homes, summer stays")

  5. Save: Click Save Changes and repeat the process for all remaining pages on your site.

What Makes Good SEO?

To maximize your visibility, keep these three elements in mind when writing your tags:

Field

Length Goal

Best Practice

Title Tag

< 60 Characters

Put your most important location-based keyword at the beginning.

Meta Description

150–160 Characters

Include a "Call to Action" like "Book your stay today!" at the end.

Keywords

5–10 Words

Focus on terms that guests actually type into Google (e.g., "pet friendly rentals [City]").

Pro Tips for Success

  • Avoid "Duplicate Content": Every page should have a unique Title Tag and Meta Description. If every page looks the same to Google, it may hurt your ranking.

  • Don't Leave Blanks: Fill in all three fields for every page. Even your "About Us" or "Contact" pages are opportunities to be found by search engines.

  • Be Specific: Instead of just using "Vacation Rentals," use "Vacation Rentals in [Your City Name]" to capture local search traffic.
