The Contacts tab in GoHighLevel is where all your leads, customers, and potential clients are stored. Whether they’ve reached out via calls, emails, or social media, their information is collected here.

A well-maintained contact list is a valuable asset—whether you're a service provider, a business owner, or a marketer. This article will break down the key sections of the Contacts tab and how to use them effectively.


Navigating the Contacts Page

When you log in, follow this structure:

  • Main menu (left bar) – Your primary navigation.

  • Sub menu (top bar) – Context-specific tools and actions.

By default, you’ll see the "All" list, which includes every contact you've acquired.


Key Features of the Contacts Tab

1. Smart Lists

  • Allows you to organize and filter contacts based on specific criteria.

  • Useful for segmenting your list to send the right message to the right people.

2. Bulk Actions

Bulk actions let you make changes to multiple contacts at once, such as:

  • Adding or removing tags

  • Deleting contacts

  • Sending bulk emails or text messages

  • Adding contacts to automations or pipelines

3. Restore Deleted Contacts

Accidentally deleted someone? The restore feature lets you recover lost contacts.

4. Task Management

  • See tasks assigned to contacts and track follow-ups.

  • Great for businesses that rely on scheduled interactions.

5. Companies Section (For B2B Users)

  • If you work with businesses, you can group contacts under specific company names.

6. Managing Smart Lists

  • Share lists with team members.

  • Create global lists that everyone can access.

Actions You Can Perform on the Contacts Page

Adding a Contact Manually

  • Click "Add Contact" if you meet someone at an event and want to add them.

  • At a minimum, you need one data point (name, email, or phone number).

  • You can set their status (customer, lead, etc.) and mark them as Do Not Disturb (DND) if needed.

Pipeline Management

  • Move contacts through different stages of your sales pipeline.

  • Add multiple contacts to opportunities at once.

Automations & Marketing Actions

  • Bulk-add contacts to automations for newsletters, promotions, or lead nurturing.

  • Bulk-send texts or emails directly from the Contacts tab.

Tagging and Organizing Contacts

  • Assign tags to contacts to group them by characteristics or behaviors.

  • Remove outdated tags to keep your database clean.

Review Requests (For Local Businesses)

  • If you run a local business, you can bulk-send review requests to past customers.

Import & Export Contacts
